A day at the ballet...

Justine and I had a girls day out today. Those of you who know me know that I love to go to the theatre. I love the ballet. I love classical music. I love the theatre. I love musicals. I even love the opera. My kids and I could put on our own rendition of "The Sound of Music," and that includes all the words to all the songs.

I want to share my love of the arts with the children, so we have been going to see as many productions as possible this year. My mom and I have been trying to take one child to each event.

There are many benefits of this plan:
a.) I get to spend one on one time with each child.
b.) We get to spend time with my mom.
c.) It doesn't cost an arm and a leg to take 8 people to each production.
d.) I get to see a lot of different productions!

So today we went to see Swan Lake at the ballet with Nana. As soon as Justine sat down, I knew we were in for it.
"This is boring."
"sh"
"This is really boring."
"Sh"
"I'm ready to go home."
"SSHH"
"This is the worst day of my life."
"SSSSHHHH"

She'll appreciate it later in life...

Editor's note: The ballet did a contemporary version of Swan Lake - which peaked the dissatisfaction level of my daughter. When it came around to the traditional production with the feathery costumes and fog machine, Justine did come around and even remembered Odette's name. I felt some degree of satisfaction with that.

You, all your kids, me and all my kids should go the 1st Friday Art Walk downtown. We have been twice and loved it. We have seen a glass blower, a painter, some really awesome art...the Susan Sommer-Luarca gallery is most awesome. 1st Friday of the Month...every month until the end of the year.

I thought Mae Mae was one of the girl's nicknames. You have some 'splainnin' to do. I'm confused...

Yeah, OK. I fixed the Mae Mae thing. My "little me", Mae Mae, wants her own blog. So we were setting it up on my account yesterday. 8 year olds have so much to blog about. We are still not ready to unveil her new blog, but I will let you know when we're ready. I am still figuring out how she can have her own ID without looking like I'm writing her blog or heaven forbid vice versa. Is that clear as mud now?
