12 days of Christmas

Did you guys know this?

In the traditional 12 days of Christmas song, which we all learned many, many years ago, each number stands for a symbol relating to Christ.

I thought I'd share what we're all singing about!

In the song, the true love refers to God, me refers to the baptized, and the partridge in the pear tree is Jesus.

Here are what the other symbols mean:

2 Turtle Doves = The Old and New Testaments

3 French Hens = Faith, Hope and Charity, the Theological Virtues

4 Calling Birds = the Four Gospels and/or the Four Evangelists

5 Golden Rings = The first Five Books of the Old Testament, the "Pentateuch", which gives the history of man's fall from grace.

6 Geese A-laying = the six days of creation

7 Swans A-swimming = the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, the seven sacraments

8 Maids A-milking = the eight beatitudes

9 Ladies Dancing = the nine Fruits of the Holy Spirit

10 Lords A-leaping = the ten commandments

11 Pipers Piping = the eleven faithful apostles

12 Drummers Drumming = the twelve points of doctrine in the Apostle's Creed

Happy Singing and Merry Christmas Eve!

This season as you contemplate the Baby Jesus BEAUTIFUL FEET! He traveled dusty roads to proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God.so we would know that love overcomes a multitude of sins. He allowed His feet to be pierced and nailed to a cross and bleed for our
salvation. His feet pushed painfully upon the nails so He could breathe enough to speak His last words on the cross Sit at the beautuful feet of Jesus and listen to His words. Father, give me such a love for Jesus that I never tire of meditating on Him. Thank You for sending Jesus to save us all. He was born for US! How beautiful upon the Mountains are the feet of Him Who brings glad tidings, announcing peace, bearing good news, announcing salvation Is 52 7 mom Going to Mass at 5:30 at Ic or maybe Seas at 7pm.
