Rocky Ridge Farm

We've been going on a lot of field trips lately. At least one a week, except for the week the kids were in testing all week. I want them to learn as much as possible, but I also want to enjoy this time with them. So why not combine those two things together?

I have always loved the Little House on the Prairie books, and I've always wanted to go to the homestead of Laura Ingalls Wilder. This week, we took the time to drive to Mansfield Missouri to visit the museum and house called Rocky Ridge Farm.

On our way there, we stopped at a country restaurant called Uncle Roosters.

And we ate these fried green beans. I guess that's one way to get them to eat green beans, eh?

We had such a good time at this place. Before your meal, they hand out Sharpie markers for you to write on the floor. If you know my kids, this is like heaven to them. They get to write on something permanent without getting in trouble for it.

Don't feel let out Jordan, Justine played hang man with the phrase "I love Jordan." You will be forever immortalized in the entry way of Uncle Roosters... well until they paint over it.

We were a little bewildered about the bathroom... Um... AWKWARD?

In front of Laura's house...
Don't they look so sweet?
Did you know Laura Ingalls Wilder was only 4'11"?
